Artificial Light at Night


Brown Anole & Artificial Light at Night - Findings: Females exposed to artificial light at night grew approximately 1.8 times faster and males approximately 1.2 times faster. Females also produced eggs earlier. These outcomes show altered energy use and reproductive timing, not necessarily improved welfare.

European Green Lizard & Food-Dependent Thermal Selection


Findings: Thirty adult male European green lizards were assigned to adequate-food and restricted-food treatments. Well-fed lizards selected a higher preferred body temperature, approximately 36.2°C versus 35.6°C. Food-restricted lizards maintained at least 80% of maximum locomotor performance across a wider temperature range, while thermal optimum and maximum performance did not change significantly.

Carpetan Rock Lizard & Individual Thermal Preferences


Findings: Thermoregulatory precision, parasite burden, risk-taking, morphology and coloration were not independent traits. More precise thermoregulation was associated with lower parasite burden and reduced risk-taking. Preferred temperature also varied with relative limb length, demonstrating that one species-wide target temperature can conceal substantial individual variation.
